Julia and Drew’s September Inn at Round Barn Farm wedding was beautiful and full of so many charmingly candid moments. From the idyllic Vermont setting, to a day of perfect late summer weather, to the stunning florals and the bride’s surprise outfit change, this was one for the books. Best of all? Julia and Drew were a joy to work with and being able to spend the day with them (and their infectious smiles) was an honor. Inn at Round Barn Farm Wedding: The Day
Their day began at The Inn at Round Barn Farm, a wedding venue located in the heart of Vermont’s Mad River Valley. The Inn boasts an adorable eat-in kitchen with fresh Vermont coffee, multiple guest suite accommodations, a stone patio, as well as a library and front porch. Perhaps most impressive are the Inn’s grounds, which offer stunning views of the surrounding fields in any season. Behind the Inn lies a sprawling lawn with lush landscaping, lilac trees, and a pond surrounded by willow trees which offer just the right amount of reprieve from the late summer sun.
Julia spent the morning in the bridal suite alongside her friends, family, flower girls and ring bearer. She chose a gorgeous dress with a dramatic neckline from Flair Boston, which she paired with a vibrant bouquet from Floral Art VT filled with romantic, summer-centric blooms. Drew’s true blue suit and their wedding party’s overall aesthetic of blues and soft greens matched Vermont’s sweet summertime backdrop perfectly.
The couple chose to read their vows privately during an emotional first look before officially saying “I Do” in front of friends and family at the venue’s pondside ceremony location. Following their first kiss, Julia and Drew joined their friends and family for celebratory cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the patio.
Aside from the wonderful weather and beautiful backdrop, my favorite thing about Julia and Drew’s day was easily how much of an effort they made to be present with each other throughout each portion of their wedding day. For those of you who are married, you know just how quickly the hours of your wedding day slip by. One of my top reminders to couples before their wedding is to be with each other as much as possible – those little moments throughout the day are magic (and provide more opportunities your wedding photographer will have to capture candid moments, which is a bonus).
Their reception took place in the top level of the Inn’s barn, where Julia and Drew continued their celebration with a first dance, a few thoughtfully worded and emotional toasts, parent dances, and an epic dessert spread by The Goose Chase Cake Design. Not long after the cake was cut, DJ Sam Turner turned it up a notch, and Julia’s epic outfit change signaled the start of the party.
