On July 23rd, Hayley and Brad hosted a stunning Vermont summer wedding at Hayley’s childhood home. The couple, and their sweet pup Hootie, welcomed just under 300 family members and friends to the mountaintop oasis that the family has called home for years. Despite the long guest list, H+B approached every single guest with an infectious smile and a big hug and the large crowd soon felt like a heartwarming, intimate gathering among the best of friends.
A Vermont Summer Wedding: The Details
Hayley and Brad chose to get ready for their wedding on site at Hayley’s family home. Between the wedding party of 22 ready to celebrate their friends, the crew in the white sailcloth tent prepping for the reception, Hayley’s father insuring everyone had exactly what they needed, and Hootie meandering the property (but wandering especially close to the catering team), the property was full of excitement.
Hayley had her hair/makeup done alongside 11 of her closest friends and family in the lower portion of her home, overlooking the ceremony site, and the hazy blues and greens of the Green Mountains. Hayley and her friends popped prosecco before Hayley snuck away to put her dress on upstairs with just her mom and sister. I loved that she was putting on her earrings and shoes just steps away from framed childhood photos and crayon drawings from her younger years. There is something so, so special about being married on family property.
Meanwhile, Brad and his friends got ready nearby with their shades on, and cold drinks in hand – both efforts to beat the heat of the 90 degree day. Brad and his friends sported blue suits from The Blk Tux, freshly paired with pink ties which matched the ladies who were in lightweight satin dresses in varying colors of champagne, pink, and earthy greens. When paired together with the vibrant florals from June Farm, the color palette of blues, champagne, pinks and greens made for a perfectly classic and colorful midsummer Vermont wedding.
H+B’s ceremony began in the late afternoon on the lower lawn of the property, surrounded by colorful flower gardens and stunning views of Mount Mansfield in the distance. After their short and sweet “I Dos,” guests were treated to fresh lemonade, iced tea, cocktails, and appetizers from Let’s Pretend Catering. Once cocktail hour ended, Hayley’s dad blew a horn – indicating, like many times when Hayley was younger, that it was time to come inside for dinner.
During their family-style dinner, family and friends toasted to Hayley and Brad with the same resounding sentiments; Hayley and Brad have an infectious joy and honest intentionality that makes everyone near to them feel like family.
At sunset, Hayley and Brad spent a quiet moment walking the property during golden hour while East Coast Soul lured their guests on to the dance floor. Nearby, the locally famous maple syrup company Palmer Lane Maple served unbeatable creemees as the sun dipped below the mountains and the sky turned into familiar late summer hues of bright pink and orange. While that would have been the perfect way to cap off the evening, the true grand finale to H+B’s Vermont summer wedding was an extraordinary firework show – lighting up the July sky in a truly unforgettable way.
