Welcome Emma to Team JBP!

Whether you’ve been following my work for a few years or only for a few days – I have some exciting news to share! I have teased this a bit on social media over the past few months, but it’s now official — Emma has joined the behind-the-scenes team here at Jenna Brisson Photography. I don’t know how I would have survived the end of the 2021 season without her, so please join me in welcoming her with open arms!

What does this mean? Well, as far as client experience and photography goes there are no major changes – if anything, you should feel more taken care of while working with me, and have access to even more resources that will make for a seamless proposal, elopement, or wedding day! I am still lead photographer, the primary contact for all JBP couples, and the one replying to your emails and Instagram DMs! But, as many of you know, running a business as a solo creative entrepreneur is a lot of work, and we often end up juggling a multitude of tasks at once when all we really wanted to do in the first place was produce our art. So, enter: Emma.

Emma will be working for me part-time this year as she builds up and works on her own photography business, The Great Blue Photo Co (go give her a follow, would ya?).

Hi, I’m Emma!

Lover of dogs, kids, and a good cup of coffee. I have one son, 3 Great Danes, and luckily, because of that, lots of coffee. ☕

I am a native Vermonter who was lucky enough to grow up in Vermont’s beautiful Northeast Kingdom. After high school, I attended UVM to study Athletic Medicine. My degree led me to sports and orthopedic rehab and to this day, even though I’m no longer practicing, I still love to learn about the human body. Heck, I love to learn about most things. Most of my friends, family, and my husband affectionately call me a nerd, and honestly, I’m okay with it.

Looking back, my path to professional photography probably started back in high school with a little pink Canon point and shoot camera (which I still have!) Since then, I was always asking to take photographs of friends and family, until one day family and friends started asking me. When I started to consider turning my passion into my profession, I was so lucky to turn and find Jenna, who became both a mentor and friend.

I’m so fortunate to spend my days behind the scenes at weddings, photographing love of all kinds. When I’m not fluffing veils, or at a portrait session, I’m behind the scenes at Jenna Brisson Photography, blogging, planning, and editing all of your beautiful images!

What will Emma be doing here at Jenna Brisson Photography, you ask? Great question!

  • Editing – After I cull your wedding gallery and edit/share sneak peeks, Emma will be helping me with global edits on your gallery. This simply means that she will be matching edits from your sneak peeks to the rest of your images. This saves me hours of time, which ultimately allows me to be more present when you need me and allows me to hold more space for intentionality and creativity in my work (and time for me to take care of the boring things like: taxes, bookkeeping, etc). When Emma is finished, she then delivers the images back to me where I spend time reviewing and hand editing each individual image to perfect it as needed. It is really common for wedding photographers outsource this first step in their editing process, and I’m SO grateful that I can keep this so close to home (literally, she’s almost my neighbor).
  • Blog Content, Curation, and Creation – Have you noticed an uptick in blog content here at JBP? Emma and I have been working tirelessly through Q1 to not only plan the next 12 months of blog content, but to draft and share a few resources to help couples plan, envision, and become even more excited for their big day. (See The Ultimate Wedding Planning Guide here, and check out our recently updated Complete Guide to Planning Your Vermont Elopement here!) Stay turned throughout 2021 for more blogs featuring real JPB weddings, tips and tricks for your engagement session, great locations to propose in Vermont, and more!
  • Organization / Graphics / Timekeeper – As far as personality types go, Emma leans towards a Type 3 (The Achiever) and I lean mostly towards a Type 7 (The Enthusiast). This makes us an amazingly dynamic duo and, while I’m often distracting myself by optimistically daydreaming new and exciting experiences for the business, Emma is constantly motivated to push us towards achieving work goals we’ve set and keeping me/our projects on track. Emma brings a much-needed dose of humor, creativity, generosity, excited energy and ambition to our weekly office days together and for that I am so thankful!
  • Misc – Over time, Emma’s roles and responsibilities will likely change as the business changes / our seasons of busy-ness change. We’ll keep this post updated as needed!

Well, that’s all for now! Emma – THANK YOU for all of your hard work during Q4 of our 2021 season, through this blog-intensive Q1 of 2022, and for all of the awesomeness you’ll bring to the table throughout the rest of 2022.

xo,
Jenna
